The one and only Una River

Rafting Una River in Bosnia is a wonderful day’s adventure. The Una River is a natural border between Croatia and Bosnia. Legends say that Una, due to bordering Lika, Dalmatia, and Bosnia in the tiny village Suvaja, might be named after the initial Roman numeral “uno” in order to emphasize its value and beauty. Rafting the Una River in Bosnia will steal your heart with its virgin beauty and clear water.

No previous rafting experience is needed. Even children from 7 years of age (only not on section R1), accompanied by parents, can participate. We use professional SOTAR rafting boats with a trained guide in each boat. You will get a life jacket, a paddle, and a helmet, plus long neoprene suits and rain jackets in case of cold weather. Waterproof containers are available for personal items. Don’t forget to bring shorts or a bathing suit, a T-shirt, spare socks and sandals (or sports shoes), a towel, sun cream, and water. In case of colder weather take a long-sleeved shirt.

 The Una River has 3 sections

R1: Rafting stage Štrbacki Buk – Lohovo: the most interesting and attractive part of the Una River (the whole section passes through Una National Park). Therefore more adrenaline for the more demanding ones. Section length: 15 km, rafting duration cca.4 hours (with a break and depending on the water level). The total time of approx. 5 hours, water class 4-5 °, 3-4 °, 2-3 °. (Not available for children under 16 years)

R2: Rafting section Costello – (Luke) Grmuša: interesting and attractive part of the Una river. Suitable for beginners and those who are trying rafting for the first time, the length of 13 km, rafting duration app. 2.5-3 hours (with a break and depending on the water level). The total time of approx. 4.5 hours, the water class 2-3 °. This rafting section is ideal for adventure travelers with children. It is suitable for family trips. Rapids and smaller waterfalls provide an appropriate feeling of adventure.

R3: Rafting section Costello – Bosanska Krupa: the lower part of the river Una, interesting and attractive, easier adrenaline fun in untouched nature. Its length is 24 km and the rafting duration app. 5 hours (with a break and depending on the water level). The total time of approx. 6 hours. Water class 2-3 °

IMPORTANT:

Please note that this trip starts in Bosnia and Herzegovina, so crossing the border is necessary to reach the meeting point for this trip.

NOTE: Please note that ONLY one section is available for purchase, there is no possibility to buy sections R1, R2, or R3 for the same day for the same person, family, or group.

ITINERARY

  • 09:45 – arrival to destination – Bihac, Golubic village
  • 10:30 – preparing for the trip and safety briefing
  • 11:00 – starting the trip
  • 12:00 – swimming break
  • 13:00 – continuing down the river
  • 15:00 – finishing up the trip at Golubic village
  • 15:30 – departure

TRIP NOTES

What to bring:

  • Swimming suit for duration of the trip
  • Set of spare clothes to change after the trip
  • water shirt, rash guard, or a basic T-shirt (under the lifejacket)
  • Sandals, water shoes or sport shoes that can get wet
  • a towel
  • sun cream
  • water and snack

 

Group size:

  • 4 to 30 people per group.
  • Minimum numbers apply.
  • Larger groups are on request.
  • There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund. In case the minimum number of participants is not met but the guest/s still want to do the trip, the price increases by a percentage depending on the final number of participants.
