CROATIA ADVENTURE TRIP FAQ’S
We have divided our Croatia Adventure trip FAQ’s into sections. Starting with general questions, then gear and safety, followed by questions regarding booking and payment, and to finish our Croatia Adventure trip FAQ’s with the two most popular activities, Zrmanja and Mreznica River kayaking/rafting.
Q: Can I join a river trip if I’m not a good swimmer?
A: Yes you can. All our guests on river trips have to wear buoyancy aids that keep you afloat in the water and help you swim. Also, you should tell your guides if you are not confident in the water.
Q: Where is the start point?
A: The start point for each trip is marked on Google maps. You can find those in each trip description. Scroll down until you see the map and click on it for more details.
Q: What is the difference between the room types?
A: We offer double, twin, single and triple rooms. A double is a room with one bed for two persons. A twin is a room with two separate beds. In Croatia, it is normal in some accommodations, especially in small hotels and home-stays/guesthouses to consider two twin beds pushed together as a double bed.
Q: I have special dietary preferences. Can you cater to vegetarian, vegan, gluten free etc. diets?
A: Yes. We can prepare special meals with prior notice. In certain areas vegan, gluten free etc. snacks in local shops will be limited so we recommend bringing your own. We do ask to keep your requests realistic as in some of the areas where we run our trips it is very difficult to prepare special meals.
Q: When is the best time to visit?
A: Our season is May to September in most areas. We start operating selected trips and tours in April and continue until October. May is usually warm enough for swimming in Dalmatia. Croatia gets busy in July and August during school holidays. September tends to be warm and sunny and the crowds are usually gone by then.
GEAR AND SAFETY
Q: What should we bring, do we need water shoes?
A: Bring some extra dry clothes to change after the trip, some snack food and water. In case you have water shoes it would be great to bring them and if not, we will provide them. Towel and a bathing suit plus a polyester t-shirt are all you need.
Q: Do you provide necessary equipment for adrenaline activities?
A: Yes we do. For all activities such as Rock climbing, Rafting, Canyoning, Zip-lining we provide the necessary equipment. If for some reason you prefer to have your own climbing shoes or harness, you are welcome to bring it, but it is not obligatory. We will provide you ours.
Q: What GEAR do we get?
A: We will give you a life jacket, a helmet, a paddle (a neoprene suit and a rain jacket in case of colder weather). You will get a waterproof barrel for your picnic, towels, water, sun cream, camera or any other personal item.
Q: What kind of bikes do you use?
A: We offer KONA bicycles. The Lana’i is the ideal bike for those wanting to dive into the big, wide world of mountain biking. Also, the pump, repair tools, helmet, bike lock are provided.
Q: Are your adrenaline activities suitable for beginners?
A: Yes, Basic Rock climbing, Rafting, Basic canyoning, and Ziplining are absolutely suitable for complete novices. All our trips have been designed with a degree of flexibility when it comes to activities. On most days it is possible to do an easier version of the activity and also to extend it and make it more demanding for our guests with prior paddling experience.
BOOKING AND PAYMENT
Q: What do I need to do to book? / How can I pay for the trip?
A: Contact us. Bookings are done by email or online directly if you find the suitable trip for you. It is possible to pay online by credit card. We also accept payment via PayPal or by bank transfer. Please let us know your preferred payment method and we will send you the details. Follow the link for more payment information.
Q: I am traveling solo, but would like to share a twin room.
A: You are welcome to sign up as a single traveler willing to share a room. But you have to be ready to pay the single supplement. In case we receive another inquiry for the same date, we will pair you up. In case there is no other single willing to share bookings you will be required to pay the single supplement.
Q: What happens if I have to cancel the trip?
Q: Do we get a refund in case of bad weather?
A: Unfortunately poor weather is always a possibility. We operate our trips with safety as our top priority. Rain itself is not a reason to cancel a trip or grant refunds. The itineraries are subject to change depending on group abilities and preferences, weather conditions, water levels, force majeure or similar. For client’s safety and comfort reasons, Raftrek reserves the right to alternate program without prior notice.
CROATIA ADVENTURE TRIP FAQ’S
ZRMANJA RIVER ACTIVITY
Q: Do you offer transfers to and from Zadar for the Zrmanja Canoe Safari?
A: YES we do. Roundtrip transfers from Zadar are possible. In July and August, standard transfer days are Wednesdays and Fridays. Transfers on any other day are possible for a minimum of 4 persons at the regular price of 15 € per person. If there are less than 4 people, a transfer might be possible upon request. You can share transfers with other guests if your group is less than 4 persons in case the transfer has been confirmed. Please contact us in case you need transfers to check availability.
Q: I was wondering how much transport would cost for the Zrmanja Canoe Safari?
A: The price for the regular transfer as described above is 15€ per person from the Zadar area.
Q: What is the price of transfer from the finish to the start point?
A: This transfer from the finish to the starting point where you left your car is included in the price of the trip.
Q: How will we get back to our cars?/ Is this transfer included in the price?
A: We will transfer the drivers to their cars and this transfer is included in the price of the trip.
Q: Can I pay by credit or debit card at the starting point?
A: No. Only cash or PayPal payments are possible at the starting points of our trips.
Q: How can I come from Zagreb to do Kayaking Mreznica River if there is no transfer?
A: There are regular buses from the main bus terminal in Zagreb to Plitvice Lakes, stopping in Slunj town where we can pick you up. With our usual schedule, you need to be in Slunj around 10:00 am.
Q: Can I buy snacks and drinks for picnic at the start of river trips?
A: No, you should buy your picnic before you come to the starting point.
Q: How do we get back to our car?
A: We have our vehicle and driver waiting for you with your dry luggage at the finish point. We transfer the drivers back to pick up the vehicle at the start point.
Q: Is our car safe there?
A: We have our secure parking places and Croatia is a relatively safe country.
Q: Is there a place where we can buy sandwiches? Shop or restaurant?
A: Our rivers are in remote areas quite far away from towns. We recommend bringing own picnic from your nearest market or shop on the way.
Q: Is water drinkable?
A: Tap water is drinkable in Croatia but please ask your local guides before consuming it.
