Since you are about to begin your trip

Make sure you have acquired all the necessary information regarding the trip you are taking. This includes:

  • Checking the expiration date on your passport
  • Contacting the Croatian Embassy or consulate to check whether you require a visa for Croatia or other countries you will be visiting
  • Acquiring plane tickets or other means of transport to Croatia
  • Printing out your Voucher or Payment Receipt
  • Planning your travel packing
  • Adding our contact info to your phone

You are welcome to leave Raftrek’s office number and e-mail with your family and friends for safety. If for some reason you can not contact them, talk to your guides and we will make sure you can contact them and assure them of your safety (and what a great experience you are having).

Travel documents

  • Passport

Please check the validation date of your passport. It is best to have a copy of the front page (with your photo and passport number) with you kept in a separate location from your passport, in case your passport gets lost or stolen.

  • Visa

Make inquires whether a visa is needed for any of the countries that are to be visited according to the selected program, and the Traveller is also obliged to obtain on his/her own a visa for the country in question. Raftrek Adventure Travel shall not be held responsible for the decisions made by customs authorities, police authorities or any other state authority banning the Traveller from entering a certain country.

  • Agency Invoice

After you pay for your trip, your contact person will send you the invoice. If for any reason you haven’t received your invoice till now, please contact your booking agent.

Airline information

Please review your airline tickets carefully and reconfirm your international flights 72 hours in advance. Please note that you should check-in for your international flights 3 hours prior to the scheduled departure.

Other types of transfer

If you are arriving by train, bus, or ferry, a transfer will be waiting for you on the ferry dock, main train, or bus station in Split or Zadar as agreed with your Raftrek booking agent. Please confirm your time of arrival after you receive this document.

Local Currency

The local currency is Euro. At some points, ATM machines will be accessible, it is although advisable to carry cash with you. For spending money (meals, guide tips, snacks, and beverages) we suggest an allowance of 200€ per person for multi-day trips and up to 50€ per person for day trips.

Here are some examples of local costs (in Euros) for guidance:

  • Coffee/tea (restaurant): 2 €
  • Juice (restaurant): 2-2,5 €
  • Snack lunch: 7 €
  • Beer: 2-4 €
  • Bottle of wine: 10 €
  • Pizza (restaurant): 7 €
  • Dinner (restaurant): 20-25 €

Baggage

Many airlines impose a maximum weight limit of 23 kg. Please see your airline’s website for luggage weight and size restrictions. For your comfort, we recommend you travel as light as possible. One main piece, preferably a soft lockable bag for easy handling, a backpack, or a hold-all would be most suitable. Daypack – 15 to 20 liters is sufficient.

The general item you will need for multi-day trips are comfortable and breathable clothes, changeable and washable (cotton shirts and t-shirts), sportswear (shorts or tights), comfortable, lightweight shoes and socks for outdoor sports activities, sun hat, sunglasses, lightweight raincoat and a set of warm clothes (sweatshirt or tracksuit) because evenings can be chilly on a boat or near the sea. Don’t forget comfortable sleepwear and personal hygiene items.

Gear List

This gear list is created to help you choose your equipment for the trip. Try to bring only what is necessary, this will help you and the field staff. Next, to your usual clothing, you should consider bringing along some other items, which will make your activities more enjoyable. Required gear for paddling is provided. Mandatory equipment for specific activities:

Insurance

It is recommendable for you to purchase trip insurance. All our guests are ensured by our local insurance company. With a policy that covers accidents en route. In addition, if you need medical assistance or evacuation assistance during the trip, Raftrek cannot cover these fees.

Raftrek Guides

You will be guided by young, experienced and licensed members of our team and because of these qualities, your guides will always operate in a safety-conscious manner. All of our guides are fluent in English. Meet your trip leader and guides in the lobby of the airport. The trip leader will have a RAFTREK sign. In some occasions, you will be welcomed by our driver and you’ll meet your guide when you come to the hotel. After settling into your accommodation, you will have time to meet the rest of the group and have an orientation briefing.

Activity level

Trips are designed for flexible, energetic people who like to be active, have an adventurous spirit and a positive attitude. Our daily program is a combination of kayaking, walking, swimming, sightseeing and exploring. You can expect to paddle about 10 miles a day (four hours), but our schedule is very weather dependent. Previous kayaking experience is recommended, but not required. There’s mostly the option of jumping in the support van if you’re tired while cycling.
