Dalmatia Escape

This great Croatia active holiday is based in a small picturesque town of Skradin. It is a unique town on the very edge of the Krka River National Park. The town is famous for its turbulent, 6000 years old past. It is one of the oldest Croatian towns which has begun writing its history since the time of the Illyrians. It received its name during the Roman rule – Scardona. After the Roman Scardona had been ruined and robbed to the very foundations, the Croats rebuilt the town and named it Skradin. Skradin is an attractive tourist destination with an authentic stone town core. In its vicinity there are numerous attractive sites: Skradinski and Roski waterfall, as well as a small island of Visovac with a Franciscan monastery. It is located in Central Dalmatia, a region known for its long beaches and pine woods.

Short itinerary:

Day 1

Arrival to Skradin and cycling Krka National Park

After checking in you’ll explore the park by bicycle, riding to the phenomenal 44m high Skradinski Buk waterfall. The fantastic karst formations and travertine waterfalls make it a beautiful swimming area. This is the famous place where the second hydroelectric power plant in the world was built, just three days after the first hydroelectric power plant on Niagara Falls. After walking, sightseeing and taking breath-taking pictures, we will make a swimming and picnic break under the great Skradinski Buk waterfall. On our way back to Skradin we have a magnificent ride downhill with a scenic view over the Prokljan Lake.
