Trekking Paklenica National Park
Must visit, while in Croatia
If there was ever a morning worth getting up early, this is that morning. Our small expedition called Trekking Paklenica National Park leads us into the most famous national park in Croatia for trekking and rock climbing. It covers the area of torrent flows of Velika and Mala Paklenica. Their distinctive canyons carved vertically into the southern slopes of Velebit. This relatively small area has an abundance of exceptional diversity. Therefore its geomorphologic phenomena and forms, diverse flora and fauna, attractive landscapes and intact nature will leave you breathless.
Trekking is the only way
However, the historical fact is that many people stayed in mountain residences. Which reflects in the ruins of numerous sacral buildings. Such as churches, chapels, altars, holy hills, and measures. While mountain residence often interacts with nature, doing anything from climbing a rock wall to navigating across a mountain or an entire mountain range. Therefore trekking Paklenica National Park is the only way to really get to know it. The name Paklenica probably derives from black pine sap called “paklina”. Which the locals used in traditional medicine, for wound treatment, and for coating of wooden boats. No previous experience is needed. Even children from 6 years of age, accompanied by parents, can participate. Don’t forget to bring your sun cream, picnic, and water. In case of colder weather take a long-sleeved shirt.
