INFORMATION
Sea kayaking Croatia doesn’t get much better than this. In eight days you will visit five small islands of the Sibenik Archipelago and swim in the clear waters of the Adriatic Sea, enjoying the stunning sunsets and meeting locals. You paddle about 20 km per day, visiting the islands of Prvic, Zlarin, Kaprije, Kakan, and Zirje on your way. A modern way of life has not yet reached these islands so you will have a unique opportunity to get a glimpse into the past and learn about the traditions and history of the area.
Your adventure starts in the town of Skradin where you will be accommodated in a Hotel and given the presentation of the week’s program during the welcome dinner. After the first day is over you begin your adventure with the first trip from Skradin to Prvic Island. On the way you will pass along the town of Šibenik and see a bunch of magnificent fortresses. On the third day you spend time kayaking and exploring around Prvic Island, finding tons of secluded beaches and coves. Fourth day begins and you make way to the Islands of Kaprije and Kakan. Just like Prvic, the island is car-free. You stay on Kaprije and visit the uninhabitated island of Kakan before returning back to Kaprije to stay the night and relax. On day five, we take the paddle back in our hands and set-off to Zirje Island. With 80 permanent residents on the Island, it makes Zirje the farthest inhabited island of Šibenik Archipelago. You return back to Kaprije for the night. In the morning on day six, you make your way back to Prvic Island to explore a bit more inland and rest for more kayaking the day after. Day seven, you head to Zlarin Island which is know for it’s coral jewellery making so you may want to be prepared for some souvenir shopping. The final destination will be Zablace – a village on the mainland just across from Zlarin Island. After a short van transfer, you finish your great adventure where you started, at the charming town of Skradin.
ITINERARY
DAY 1 – Arrival to the Destination – Skradin
The first day of Sea Kayaking Adventure starts in the town of Skradin. We will organize your transfer from Split or Zadar airport, bus, or train station. Once you settle into your accommodation, we will meet for a welcome dinner and presentation of the week’s program.
Accommodation: Hotel; Transfer: Split 90 min or Zadar 45 min
DAY 2 – Sea Kayaking – Skradin to Prvic Luka, Prvic Island
We get ready and start kayaking from Skradin to our first destination – the island of Prvic. From Skradin we kayak through the Prokljan Lake and through a long channel passing the town of Sibenik and its magnificent fortresses.
We arrive in the village of Prvic Luka which will be our base for the next two nights. Tourism is the most important economic branch on the island – yet the island is unspoiled and has retained its authenticity. The whole island is considered a cultural heritage and it is under the protection of the Croatian Ministry of Culture.
Accommodation: Hotel; Sea kayaking: 4-5 hours; Distance: 25 km
DAY 3 – Sea Kayaking – Sea Kayaking around Prvic Island
We start our day by circling the island of Prvic, exploring its many secluded beaches and coves. Throughout the day we have plenty of opportunities to stop for swimming and in the afternoon we have time to explore the island. The island is car-free so take a relaxing walk through the village or visit a museum dedicated to a famous Renaissance Croatian inventor.
Accommodation: Hotel; Sea kayaking: 4-5 hours; Distance: 25 km
DAY 4 – Sea Kayaking – Prvic Luka to the Islands of Kaprije and Kakan
Our next destination is Kaprije Island and we stay in its only settlement – the village of Kaprije. Just like Prvic, the island is car-free and the only car allowed on the island is that which belongs to the local fire department. The deep bay of Kaprije Village is a popular boat destination so village cafes and restaurants are quite lively. We also visit the island of Kakan, an uninhabited island close by, before returning to Kaprije for the night.
Accommodation: Guesthouse; Sea kayaking: 4-5 hours; Distance: 25 km
DAY 5 – Sea Kayaking – Kaprije to Zirje Island
If you ever wondered what going back in time feels like – you will love our next destination – the island of Zirje. Zirje is the farthest inhabited island of the Sibenik archipelago, and with only 80 permanent residents on the island, it is as far from mass tourism as it gets. It’s relatively ignored position as a tourist destination has left it looking like a film-set from the past and a wonderful place to visit for a day. We return to Kaprije for the night.
Accommodation: Guesthouse; Sea kayaking: 4-5 hours; Distance: 25 km
DAY 6 – Sea Kayaking – Kaprije to Prvic Luka
We depart from Kaprije Island and make our way back to Prvic Island. This time we stop for a rest and a walk at the village of Prvic Sepurine. Explore the village’s labyrinth of narrow streets, visit its church or just relax on the beach before leaving for Prvic Luka for the night.
Accommodation: Hotel; Sea kayaking: 4-5 hours; Distance: 25 km
DAY 7 – Sea Kayaking – Prvic Luka to Zlarin Island and Zablace
On our last active day we head to Zlarin island. Zlarin is the closest island to Sibenik town and it is more tourist and lively than the islands visited so far. It is famous for its long-standing tradition of coral jewellery making, so you may want to do some souvenir shopping. Our final destination is Zablace – a village on the mainland just across from Zlarin Island. After a short van transfer, we finish our adventure where we first started, at the charming town of Skradin.
Accommodation: Hotel; Sea kayaking: 4-5 hours; Distance: 25 km
DAY 8 – Departure
We will arrange your transfer to the airport if you are flying back home. If you decide to spend more time in Croatia, our guides will be happy to recommend other beautiful places to visit – especially those you won’t find in tourist guidebooks.
Transfer: Split 90 min or Zadar 45 min
