Montenegro Adventure Active weekend – embark on an unforgettable eight-day journey through Croatia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, immersing yourself in a whirlwind of natural beauty and cultural discovery.

Start your adventure in Dubrovnik, Croatia, where you’ll be transported to the tranquil shores of Zaton Bay. Spend a day exploring Dubrovnik’s ancient streets before venturing into Montenegro.

Cross the border and paddle through the breathtaking Bay of Kotor on a sea kayaking excursion. In Kotor, wander through medieval alleyways and hike up to the fortress for panoramic views.

Next, hike through Lovcen National Park to the Njegosev Mausoleum, then visit the revered Ostrog Monastery before heading to Zabljak for an afternoon hike around the enchanting Black Lake.

Explore the hidden treasures of Durmitor National Park, trekking through its pristine wilderness and admiring the Tara River canyon’s stunning beauty.

Cross into Bosnia and Herzegovina to discover the quaint village of Hum before embarking on an exhilarating rafting journey down the Tara River, known as “The Tear of Europe.”

Return to Zaton Bay for a final night before bidding farewell to the Adriatic shores and departing from Dubrovnik, enriched by the memories of your Balkan adventure.

The Montenegro Adventure Active Weekend is ideal for those looking for an extensive, “multisport” adventure around Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Hercegovina.

ITINERARY

DAY 1 – Arrival to destination – Dubrovnik town

After the arrival at Dubrovnik Airport or harbour you will be transferred to Zaton Bay, an area just outside Dubrovnik. You will have the option to spend the day in Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic. Dubrovnik is a lively and colourful coastal town and it is manageable on foot.

DAY 2 – Sea kayaking Kotor Bay

We head out into Montenegro for a sea kayaking day in the most beautiful bay of Kotor …Relax this evening in Kotor while enjoying a traditional supper. We suggest an afternoon optional hike up the Kotor fortress.

DAY 3 – Hiking NP Lovcen

We will start our day with a short transfer to Cetinje from where we start our hike up to Lovcen National Park in Cetinje to visit and climb 461 stairs to the Njegosev Mausoleum.

DAY 4 – Visit to the famous Ostrog Monastery

If there was ever a morning worth getting up early, this is that morning. Our small expedition leads us to the most famous monastery Ostrog. We will drive up for an inspirational experience. After the visit, we continue our drive to Zabljak. Upon arrival, we will go for an afternoon hike to the Black Lake. Also, there is an option for the museum lovers – a visit to the local flora and fauna museum.

DAY 5 – Trekking NP Durmitor

Having today’s itinerary in mind, we put smiles on our faces and set off towards the most famous National Park in Montenegro. This day is all about exploring hidden places in the Durmitor National Park area. The Durmitor National Park, created in 1952, includes the massif of Durmitor, the canyons of Tara, Susica and Draga rivers and the higher part of the canyon plateau Komarnica, covering the area of 390 km².

DAY 6 – Hiking over a pass in NP Durmitor

Today we take the van and drive up to the highest pass in the park, from where we hike to experience once-in-a-lifetime views of the mountains. Durmitor will take your breath away. We continue our drive towards Hum, the little village situated on the very border of Montenegro and Bosnia and Hercegovina.

DAY 7 – Tara rafting

The Tara River has the longest rafting tradition. It is really worth seeing and experiencing. It is the wildest, the most beautiful and the clearest mountain river in Montenegro, also called “The Tear of Europe”.

After an exciting rafting day, we have an optional lunch with the locals and we drive back towards Croatia via Bosnia and Hercegovina.

Overnight: Zaton Bay, Croatia.

 

DAY 8 – Departure

Depart Zaton and Dubrovnik for the airport and flight home.

NOTE: Enquire whether or not you might require a visa for Croatia as well as neighboring countries (Bosnia and Hercegovina or Montenegro) if traveling through them is included in the itinerary.

Group size

Min 4 – max 16 people per group; larger groups are on request. Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there is not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund. In case the minimum number of participants is not met but the guest/s still want to do the trip, the price increases by a percentage depending on the final number of participants.

Accommodation

Accommodation is provided in different locations ranging from Dubrovnik, Croatia all the way to Zabljak, Montenegro. We use mostly small family-run hotels or private guesthouses that are located outside the tourist mass which will make your experience even more complete.

Air Travel

Please check with us before purchasing your airline tickets to ensure your trip has the necessary minimum number of participants required to operate. Early arrivals / Extended stay notes – we include two transfers with each trip. These are usually the transfers on the first and the last day of the trip. In case you are arriving a few days earlier or extending your stay in Dubrovnik after your trip with us, we can provide additional airport transfers.

Meals

Meals tend to be fairly heavy on the meats and sausages, bread and pastries, pasta and dumplings. If you have special dietary needs, please let us know as soon as possible. Vegetarian diets can be accommodated but we recommend that you bring along with you some of your favorite protein snacks.
