The essence of adventure tourism are different trips and expeditions. In which a certain level of perceived or actual risk is present. In these, often physically demanding activities, special knowledge, skills or abilities are sometimes needed.

Since the activities are mostly held outdoor it is possible that different accidents occur. In general, during any stay in nature or performing outdoor activities, there is a possibility of an injury or accident. Either less and barely noticeable, either serious or even fatal. By performing adventure activities, the risk of accident can be even bigger. Given the facts and extensive experience, Raftrek pays particular attention to the safety and needs of its clients and employees.

Safety comes first, always.

By analyzing our trips and activities, we try to identify all those factors that might be a threat to our clients and employees. Since we are aware that it is not possible to overly affect the natural disasters or phenomena. We focus on decreasing the controllable risks. Those are primarily the risks that arise from ignorance or wrong judgments o in relation to the environmental conditions.

We believe that we can work in nature and with nature. If we respect its strength and greatness. Therefore if our actions are aligned with rules.

Regular risk assessment that we conduct gives us valuable info. All about possible hazards and factors of risk. For each activity there is a form to estimate the probability that a particular factor will cause an incident. From this data we estimate the level of risk and decide whether the risk is too high in relation to gain. Both for us and the clients. In order to maintain the safety management system at a high level, risk assessment procedure is repeated once a year. Or even more frequently if needed.

Moreover, procedures in the event of an accident and documents containing information about important phone numbers, access and evacuation points are regularly evaluated. We constantly update our existing communication channels depending on the location and activity.

Educating our guides

In addition to the study of uncontrollable and controllable nature factors. We focus on the human factor in safety. Unfortunately, human carelessness and ignorance are very often the cause of accidents that occur in adventure tourism. The largest number of accidents happen during activities in which people engage without guidance of an experienced and trained guide.

But accidents may occur, even with the guide, especially if people overestimate their own abilities or underestimate the power of nature. To minimize the possibility of accidents on our trips, we intensively work on training and education of our guides.

Licensed Raftrek guides

During the training, they become acquainted with the working procedures and procedures in the event of an accident or injury. Our guides are certified to perform different activities. They are also certified first aid providers. We encourage them to familiarized with their own strengths and weaknesses. By using different methods and techniques during their training. All in order to master them and become aware how those influence their work.

In this way we ensure that guides will act professionally and respond adequately even in new or difficult situations. The clients needs will always be in the first place. Since adventure activities are not common in everyday life. They might be challenging. Depending on the participants, it can even cause different reactions in different people. In those moments, Raftrek guides will be the ones that will provide support and assistance to the group members.
