The people of Croatia are friendly, happy to help, and most conversations are handled with a smile. They can also be hard-headed, but that’s just how they roll in the Balkans.
Croatia is an inspiration
Together with the tradition, folklore, art scenes and music, and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, therefore, make Croatia a unique and exotic place to discover. The industry is not big here and it has had little impact on the environment. Therefore a large percentage of the people of Croatia grow their own food and drink tap water. Even water in rivers and wells is drinkable. While friendly, fun-loving people and their easy-going lifestyle will make your stay a very pleasant one.
Croats also called as Croatians, are a nation and South Slavic ethnic group native to Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Croats are mostly Roman Catholics. The Croatian language is official in Croatia, the European Union, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Croatian is a recognized minority language within Croatian autochthonous communities.
Local people with stories to tell
Getting to know Croatia as we did over the years, it led us to meet some interesting local people with quite interesting stories to tell. These places are mostly unknown and with a population so small that one wouldn’t even call it a village. They live quiet, modest, and simple lives, similar to how people lived decades ago. Farming, gardening, fishing, or taking care of their animals is usually what they do throughout the day.
Although they only speak Croatian, you can easily understand that you are very welcome in their home. Offering homemade jam and locally grown fruits. Therefore a living proof of how kind Croatian people are. This truly is a different experience that gives you a real insight into the authentic and traditional Croatian lives.
Only four million people live in Croatia, but they will make a difference in your stay there. Fortunately, Croatians tend to be friendly, helpful, and not to mention funny. Friendly’ is invariably the go-to attitude most of the time.
You will notice the Croatian hospitality when you go to someone’s home. All guests are usually treated with several food servings, and the finest drinks are brought out. Everyone will do their best to make you feel welcome and almost at home.
We hope that you too will immerse into Croatian culture; our nature is beautiful, our food is delicious and our people are kind. And before you know it, you will learn your first Croatian word “Živili!”, ’cause, you know, Croatians.
